BUPA Great Run Sponsorship
Under 13's Junior Rugby coach Mark Turner and partner Jo Lucock took part in the BUPA Great Run this year on Sunday the 17th May 2009. They were raising money for the Factor 50 research team which raises the awareness of Malignant Melanoma (Skin cancer). Factor 50 was set up in late 2007 by a very determined lady called Gillian Nuttall. They were raising money to research the disease in order to stem it's activity.
They managed to raise over £800 in sponsorship for this worthy cause. Mark completed the run in 59 minutes and Jo came in at 63 minutes.
First team rugby player Paul Tonge lost his battle with the illness in November last year at the age of just 26.He was a great friend to Mark's sons who he played rugby alongside and Paul's father Jess played for the club and played alongside Mark in the second row. So Mark and Jo felt it fitting to raise money for sponsorship this year to Factor 50. They would like to thank all those who sponsored them for the run and they will be circulating the Club with their sponsor forms in the near future to collect any unpaid monies.
Once again many thanks to all the sponsors.

Bolton Beer Festival
The beer festival has raised between £30,000 and £40,000 each year for the last few years for Bolton Lads and Girls Club.
The event this year is from Wednesday 8th October to Sunday 12th October 2008.
BUT BUT BUT WE HAVE MOVED
The event this year has moved to Bolton Rugby Club click here for the Google Maps location
The club is on Avenue Street, (off Chorley Old Rd), Bolton BL1 3AW.
The new location will give us more space, we have a bigger tent and the location will allow us to expand in the coming years.
We need to make as many people aware of the dates and the new location to ensure that the event can continue to provide much needed funds for the Lads and Girls Club, as well as for you all to have a good night out.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE EMAIL THIS TO A FEW OF YOUR FRIENDS TO ADVISE THEM OF THE DATES AND THE NEW LOCATION.

4-Jan 2008 Roy "Pemby" Pemberton
It is with deep regret that I have to report the passing of Roy Pemberton on Friday 4th January. Funeral arrangements are as follows: Friday 11th Jan, Overdale Crematorium, 11:45am, returning to Bolton Rugby Club for about 12.30pm. There will be refreshments available and the bar will be open.
Roy had been a club member for over 35 years, and held the position of Hon Sec for many years. After finishing his playing career, Roy refereed many Club games, dispensing his own brand of humour. In one confrontational game, he advised the captains “Gentleman you either play rugby or I will play a concerto on this whistle !” He was also one of the (few) referees to send our President off. Ray was also a classical music lover, a keen bridge player and had a natty collection of cravats.
The club sends its deepest sympathies to his wife, Susan.
