Bolton U13 0-7 Blackburn U13
Bolton were just edged in a very tight game between two evenly matched sides
Blackburn scored in the first minute following a strong run from their excellent number 8.
Thereafter the two sides cancelled each other out. Blackburn retained possession well and repeatedly came forward but were
met by a wall of Bolton tacklers with Matthew Robinson, Curtis Waugh, Seb Reilly, Matthew Stott, Richard Gallagher and Tim
Higgins all prominent.
Bolton had an edge in pace out wide but struggled to release their backs on the small muddy pitch.
The Blackburn number 8 went close again and man of the match stand in scrum half Matthew Robinson was tantalising close to
an interception.
Thanks to Tyler Corless, Curtis Waugh and Hywel Jones from the U12s for helping out as many regulars seem to be skiing his
week. All played well; Tyler was certainly prepared to mix it with older boys and Curtis showed genuine composure in the backs. Thanks lads.
Thanks to Seb Reilly who played and then dashed off for the Manchester Derby.

Bolton U13s 30*-0 Tyldesley U13s
Bolton returned to action after a long gap due to poor weather.
Tyldesley tackled bravely throughout but in the first half were overwhelmed by the strength and power of the Bolton forwards.
Daniel Doyle, Nathan Stansfield, Seb Reilly all scoring. David Harding crossed from the backs.
In the 2nd half Bolton spread the ball more with Matthew Robinson, Alex Lawless, Matthew Ault and Tim Higgins all linking
well. Further scores came from Matthew Robinson and Ashley Wilson’s first try for the club.
Man of the match : Harrison Peak who kindly volunteered to play for Tyldesley at prop, he shows promise in this position.
Ormskirk Under 13's v Bolton Under 13's
On a freezing morning we travelled to play Ormskirk, finalists of last years Lancashire U12 trophy.
It is a measure of how far the team has progressed that despite having some key players off we were disappointed not to do better on the
scoreline.
3 of the 4 opposition scores resulted from naive defence by Bolton. We will work on our defensive patterns.
Similarly we dominated the 2nd half yet our excellent forwards couldn't quite bash through. A Daniel Dolyle effort was disallowed as the ref
couldn't get a good view of the grounding. As we continued our route 1approach Matthew Robinson of all people managed to drive through
their pack and touch down.
However as a whole the team again played a lot of good rugby. The backs tried a loop and an ambitious crosskick nearly set Richard
Gallagher free.
Man of the match : Joe Howarth for tackling well thoughout.
There is no doubt that the team is improving.
Bury 31-10 Bolton Sunday 25th November 2007
Bolton travelled to play our close rivals who are top of their group in the league. They have acquired two outstanding runners and allied to a tight side generally they are quite a handul.
Overall Bolton probably played the better phases of rugby and there were a fair few plus points.
The forwards secured loads of ball. The half-backs functioned well as a unit. The backline was unluckly not to have finsihed a couple of overlaps.
However Bury scored 4 tries from solo runs from inside their own half. Our next training sessions will focus on getting first tackes in.
Bolton scores were from Seb Reilly and Nathan Stansfield.
Sam Towers showed that size can ne no impediment to strong tackling.
Matthew Ault made his debut on the wing.
Man of the match Nathan stansfield for consistent tackling
The referee was excellent
Bolton U13 12-10 Waterloo U13 Sunday 3rd November 2007
An exciting game of rugby between two good squads of players ended with the honours going to Bolton
in a very tense finale.
Throughout the game Bolton tried to advance through their powerful forwards whereas Waterloo were
more organised and looked to spread the ball. Nathan Stansfield, Seb Reilly and Daniel Doyle featured
frequently in Bolton surges. Sam towers organised well from scrum-half and Alex Lawless had a great
first outing at full-back. The opening score was a cracking 70 metre run from debutant winger Richard
Gallagher. After a period of intense forward pressure Mathew Robinson jinked over for a score. Waterloo
replied with a well worked score in the corner on half-time.
In the 2nd half Waterloo came into it more as Bolton tired. A 2nd try reduced the deficit to two points.
Bolton rallied to see the game out and looked to have done enough as Nathan Stansfield, Sam Towers
and Richard Gallagher all went close. However Waterloo counter-attacked with the last play of the game
and won a kickable penalty.
Tension all round the ground as Waterloo lined up the final kick of the game. Luckily for Bolton the ball
drifted under.
The entire game was played in a super spirit; a real advert for rugby.
Ashton on Mersey U13 15-15 Bolton U13
Bolton travelled down to Carrington for an entertaining draw with a side we have never
played before.
Bolton’s forwards held the edge throughout and we spent large periods pressuring the
opposition line. Ashton looked to use their wide backs at every opportunity and to their
credit managed 3 tries from a handful of attacks.
Bolton certainly didn’t get any luck; a super Daniel Doyle effort bizarrely disallowed along
with a Matthew Robinson touchdown in the 2nd half. Even stranger was the sinbinning of our
out-half for allegedly collapsing a maul.
Bolton scores were from Nathan Stansfield and two from man of the match Daniel Doyle.
Lexus Tournament Report U13 Sun 16th Sept 2007
Bolton travelled to this tournament with a good squad.
We had no experience of our opposition and ended up surprising ourselves
by making it out of the group into the semi-finals where we lost to a superb
Sandbach side.
Bolton 10-0 Old Brodleyans
Bolton began this game with a lot of enthusiasm. From a driving maul on
the half-way Matthew Robinson stole down the blindside for a fine score.
Our forwards continued to pile on the pressure with Sam Towers marshalling
them well. From a broken field in their 22 Matthew Robinson was able to get
his 2nd score.
Bolton 0-12 Doncaster
Bolton then lost to a very well drilled Doncaster side.
Bolton 24-0 Hull
Our last group match saw us pressure Hull for the entire game.
The pick of the tries was a 60 metre effort from Seb Reilly.
Nathan Stansfield gained reward for his efforts all day with a good try.
Hayden Smith and Matthew Robinson also scored.
Bolton 0-19 Sandbach
After a 2 hour wait we played our semi-final against a super Sandbach side.
Despite not playing as well as earlier in the day we acquitted ourselves well
All the team played and supported well. Well done lads!
