Bolton RUFC currently run four mens teams plus two Colts side. The first team compete in North Lancashire One which is a level 8 league. The division is very competitive and the maximum travel time to matches is around one hour.
The first team squad consists of; players who have served the side well over a number of years and newcomers to the area, plus several former colts players who are now making their mark at this level. The side is coached by Gary Hodgkinson who played for many years for the club.
The second team plays in the Miller Homes North West Intermediate league and there are now moves to set up a management structure for the second team, to improve standards and continue the development of the younger/new players. Both sides will be run much closer together next season, which will give more room for the transition of players between squads.
The third and fourth teams both compete in the Miller Homes NW Intermediate league set up.
The veterans (over 40`s) play some weekends, usually against other vets sides or suitable opposition.
Training takes place on Tuesday and Thursdays at the club at 7.00p.m. Pre season starts in July, although some football, touch, weights etc will take place in June.
The club has excellent facilities, three pitches, a floodlight training area, and a weights room. We are also very fortunate to have medical backing in the form of John Adams who is the head of A+E at Royal Bolton Hospital. On Tuesday nights, Doug Walmsley, our physio looks after our welfare, paid for by the club.
We are an ambitious club, who are looking for success and hopefully a move up the leagues. But we have also retained our social side and recent tours have included; Poland, Spain, Prague, Holland, Ireland and other more exotic destinations near to home. We are always looking for new players of all standards, especially players of a standard that would enhance our first team.
