Bolton 17 Eagle 31
The game had an inauspicious start with the referee getting stuck in traffic, after much searching at the bottom of the barrel a mug was found. With the return this week of the inspirational coach, Bolton started well, putting immense pressure on the Eagle line, which resulted in a good try. This was not converted, this early score seemed to wake up the Eagles, who then maintained a good attack rate, initially through the forwards, but then woke up to the wide outside and this created the openings to three well worked tries. Bolton continued to battle hard through this with some excellent defending and with singleton and Holden in electric mode, the game line was broke continuously with only last gasp defending or spilled ball stopping the tries from flowing. After the interval Bolton continued the pressure, but for a period both teams seemed to cancel each other out, in the middle of the field, just as Bolton thought they where getting on top, Eagles scored another try, following some missed tackles. This rejuvenated Bolton who attacked with renewed gusto, a good break from Veal, allowed Taylor to stretch his legs leaving Eagles fluttering on the ground as he cruised in for a try. Bolton continued to press, but a turnover ball allowed Eagles to score one last try in the corner, rounding of a good hard fought encounter and although losing, Bolton improved significantly from last weeks performance.

Dukinfield 29 Bolton 17
Bolton colts travelled to league leaders Dukinfield, with spirits high, after two wins so far this season.
The game kicked off and immediately Dukinfield, put Bolton under severe pressure, but stout defence held the home team at bay, however this immense pressure eventually told and Dukinfield, broke through and scored a try, which was not converted. This finally galvanised Bolton into action and move after move flowed just being thwarted, by excellent defence, however a quick chip ball over the defensive line saw Holden chase to the try line and score. Bolton continued to push forward and only last ditch defence kept them out, Bolton maintained intense pressure on Dukinfield whenever they had the Ball, this resulted
in Dukinfield spilling the ball with Bolton chasing through and O'Donohue touching the ball down, Holden converted. Dukinfield started to utilise their big runners to punch holes in Bolton's defence, with Bolton players providing resolute defence eventually though the pressure told with Dukinfield scoring two more tries before half time.
Bolton rallied again but a stolen ball at a ruck resulted in Dukinfield scoring the first try of the second half, which was converted, the game ebbed backwards and forwards, with both teams pushing hard and only last ditch tackling, spilled ball at the wrong time, preventing both teams from enhancing the scores, as the players tired holes started to appear in the defences and through one of the these gaps Tailor brushed aside three tacklers to score an excellent try. By this stage though the Bolton forwards where tiring and the loss of Franks as hooker, resulted in scrums being lost, but good pressure from Bolton kept Dukinfield pinned back in the 22 metres. In the dying minutes Dukinfield broke and scored under the posts, which was converted.
The game ended a mighty contest, which Bolton lost with credit, to a good well drilled team and continued to push despite injuries to key personnel and one or two wayward playing decisions.
Training on Wednesday evening from 19:00 with a home game next Sunday kick off 12:30 to savour

Sunday 11th September
Vale of Lune 8 Bolton Colts 28
The colts had a long trek to Vale of Lune, hoping to build on last weeks good victory. Bolton started well playing most of the first ten minutes int he Vale half, with some good runs, from the forward and backs, this pressure resulted in a penalty where a well worked move saw John Veal crash over for his first try of the afternoon, Andy Holden kicked the converison from near the touchline.
The pressure continued, but a number of ruck and maul infringements saw Bolton move back towards there own 22, again they moved forward and with a break by Holden , and slick passing to Adam Ryan, who attacked the defence with support players and a slick dummy saw him home under the posts. The game started to fragment with both sides infringing around the rucks, mauls and scrums.
The second half continued in the same vein, lots of good attacking moves destroyed by a lack of discipline on the Bolton side giving up hard earned ground to penalites, some smart kicking from Holden and good runs from Veal , Singleton and Ormes opened the gaps in the vale defence but nothing came as dropped balls resulted. Finally at a ruck, Ormes ripped the ball from Vale and ran nearly 40 metres brushing aside Vale defenders, for a try under the posts, Holden converted, some bad indiscipline saw the vale number 8 sin binned for the tackle on Ormes when he scored the try. Silly penalties wasted the good opportunites which kept appearing, however the pressure from bolton continued and another good effort from Veal saw his second try under the posts Holden converted. Bolton then seemed to self destruct, giving away even more penalites and arriving last to the breakdowns, not supporting, Vale slowly became the stronger team as Bolton went on holiday, Vale finally managed a drop goal, and with good heart in the dying minutes of the game managed to outrun the Bolton
defence and score a well worked try, in the corner, although another good victory, the manner of winnign was poor and a lot of
hard work must be done on the training pitch in order for this team to reach its potential.
