Bolton 4th 40 Carrington 0
Bolton 4th team second from bottom with one game to go against bottom of the league Carrington was this weeks fixture and after winning 2 in a row in the league Bolton were in a aggressive mood scoring within the first 5 min a good passing move down the line led to Ben Doyle scoring in the corner Ben Harwood slotted over the kick 7-0 in Bolton's favour. The onslaught didn't stop there two quick try's from Stuart MacDonald and Steven Forester meant Bolton went into the break 19-0 up with Ben Harwood only missing one of the kicks.
The second half started as the first ended with Bolton on the attack a typical devastating run by Martin Plimmer crashing through everyone who got in his way meant Bolton were now 26-0 Bolton continued to press thought the forwards in the second half pushing Carrington into their own 22 Carrington then attempted to clear only for Bolton's full back James Dean to take the ball back and place it between the posts 33-0. Bolton then did something which will probably never happen again cruising to victory in the game they brought onto the pitch Club Captain Les Towler for 20 min of rugby and it doesn't stop there our Club Capt scored between the uprights. Danny Barlow took out the opposing 10 and inside centre with a clever inside ball for Les Towler to burst though the line and before Carrington's full back get across Les Towler had scored between the uprights final score 40-0.
Man of the Match go's to Ben Harwood kicking 5 out of 6 kicks Donut of the match go's to James Dean for Knocking on a easy chance to score from a brilliant miss pass from Danny Barlow I would like to thank everyone involved in the 4th team for a great year and hopefully many more to come._

Leigh 6s 14 Bolton 4th XV 18
Bolton 4ths faced the tough away task of Leigh 6th's this week a team that are peforming well in the league. With a new on the pitch skipper of Mark Down bolton shot out of the gates early putting massive pressure on the leigh backline for leighs defence to hold firm and not let Bolton in. With all this pressure leigh grew in frustration and gave away a penlty just before half time and Ben Harwood slotted it between the posts for 3-0 in boltons favour at half time.
The second half started with Leigh having all the pressure and it didnt take long for them to score the first try of the game, Bolton were starting to get into old habit's and looked like they were going to be defending the rest of the game trying there best to get a sneaky try. However nobody banked on what happend next a leigh player was stupid enough to upper cut Martin Plimmer in the face and instead of reacting in lkind Marting Plimmer decided to let his running and big tackling do all the talking after running over the leigh backs like a steamroller with a turbocharger so started the belief that bolton could acctually start to break the seemingly inpenitrable Leigh back line. Bad dicipline from leigh got bolton within there 22 for Stuart Macdonald to score under the posts the kick was missed but Bolton had belif. Another stupid penelty by Leigh let Ben Harwood give Bolton another 3 points making the score 11-7 the game went backwards and forward for a little bit but then Bolton scored again a long misplaced pass by Mark Down was collected by full back James Dean who broke the defenive line leaving him to run round the opposing full back and score under the posts Ben Harwood couldnt miss the kick and the score was 18 - 7 in bolton's favor. Bolton playing with no subs then got a injury Mark Down got tackled and let out a scream like a six year old girl on helium which left bolton down to 14 players for the last 15 min of the game. Leigh contiued to press and managed to get a score back on the last minute of the game leaving the final score 18-14 in Bolton's favour.
Tackle of the match: goes to Micky Kay holding up a try by thowing himself under leighs rolling maul Player of the match: go'es to Martin Plimmer for big running and even bigger
tackling
Donut of the match: has to go out to Mark down for his little girl scream

Wigan 4s 5 Bolton 4th XV 0
Bolton 4's this weekend took on Wigan 4ths this week with Wigan were looking for revenge after Bolton beat them first game of the season. Wigan started the brighter putting pressure on the Bolton line but good defence kept Wigan at bay this was the story up until half time where the score line was 0-0
The second half was more of the same but a special mention has to go out to Dave 'Boom time' Evans who has received this nickname from the 4ths team after 7 massive hits on the Wigan pack. The second half was very tight and it was obvious a single try would win the game and sadly this try came the way of Wigan 5 min away from the end(A very dubious try at that)Bolton then went on the attack and huffed and puffed but couldn't blow the Wigan defensive line down final score 5-0 Special mentions have to go to Dave 'Boom time' Evans, and Simon Braithwaite
whose rucking and mauling was the reason the Wigan pack couldn't make any yards in the first half and the whole bolton 4th team.

Ormskirk 41 Bolton 4th XV 0
Bolton 4ths travelled to Ormskirk 3rd (They have a 4th team) this weekend with 13 player hoping they could right a few wrongs over previous weeks IE: getting some points on the board sadly this didn't work out as Bolton failed to put any points on the board this was not all bad as the final score was 41 - 0 Bolton improved there strong defence with Johnny Knock - on being exceptional in the pack tackling everything that moved in a Ormskirk shirt and the returning Simon Braithwaite also having a exceptional defensive game The plonker of the week goes to Pete Walch our XXX stone prop trying to tactical kick into the corner and kicking it straight to a winger who scored 34 of the points for Ormskirk. Be assured Pete has been fined for this mishap as Bolton 4ths go in the search of a try in there next game

Widnes 38 Bolton 4th XV 7
The 4th team travelled to a well drilled Widnes 3rd team with depleted numbers due to ill health and injury. However a good performance was given by all with Joni Hill to the fore amongst the forwards. Stand-in skipper, Mick Kay released the backs frequently with Ben Harwood and Richard Lamplugh making good breaks through the Widnes defence. Bolton's only try came from a quick tap penalty that sent Doc Robinson crashing over on his return after missing 4 weeks. The heavy conditions meant that the more nimble forwards had an easier time, with Antony Walch and Ste Forrester finishing strongly. Overall, a fine performance in difficult conditions.

Tyldesley 36 Bolton 4th XV 7
Bolton travelled to another strong team, Tyldesley with only 13 players, as injuries further up the club saw the team lose players to higher teams. Even so Tyldesley were accommodating, lending Bolton 2 players so the game could start even. Bolton gave a strong performance and was unlucky not to score more. The only points scored by centre Stuart MacDonald.

Bolton 4th XV 0 Ashton on Mersey 2nd 72
Bolton 4th XV were at home to a very strong Ashton on Mersey side. This season has seen the 4th team find themselves in a very tough league, with very good sides. As this team is the usual place for new players to have a taste of rugby, the inexperience does show when they go up against much more experienced sides. Bolton bravely lost 72-0 to a team which included 4 1st team regulars!!!.
Saturday 14th October
4th XV losing bravely to Eagle, Warrington.
Saturday 7th October 2006
Bolton 4th XV 5 Ormskirk 3rd XV 59
With the leagues still sorting themselves out Bolton came up against a strong Ormskirk 3rds. Last season Bolton (who have moved down the leagues) had played Ormskirk 4ths in two tough games. Puzzled? I know I am. Bolton started the brighter, but was unable to convert points. The team appeared to be switched on from the start after getting on the pitch early. However due to some late cry offs some players had to switch positions (Thanks to Marcus Rigby for Hooking) Bolton began to become pegged back and the pressure finally told with Ormskirk getting 3 unanswered tries before half time. This was not too disappointing as changes were made to the Bolton ranks at half time. Due to injuries even more players had to play out of position! These changes meant Bolton lost all momentum and began to leak further tries. However, some had to step up and put some fight back into Bolton. Paul Tonge and Martin Plimmer thought this could be achieved as they saw the opportunity to tap and go in their own half and take on the Ormskirk centers, who looked like they were wondering if traffic would be bad on the way home! With the word passed as quietly as possible to Captain James Dean, who was shaping to kick for touch. Dean looked at the 2 heavy weights waiting to pounce! As he thought for a moment and started to imagine “o what a move I am going to start and everyone is going to love me!” he went into full day dream and dropped the ball of his shin! Dean tried to amend for his error (kindly put) and jumped on the ball, only to be jumped on in turn by the entire Ormskirk pack! Lesson learnt I think! After this disappointment, it does have to be mentioned that the Captain bravely stepped up and tried another quick tap. This time he jinked the first few Ormskirk tackles and ran half the pitch to touch down in the corner! Now he can day dream. Bolton continued to battle to the final whistle, but found the day very tough. Mention has to go to another new player! Ben Doyle started on the wing after only 1 training session and experience in ice hockey! He tackled superbly all game and put up with Charlie Walton bellowing in his ear all game! A great run from a reverse kick off also dissevered more! Excellent debut and one for the future!

Sandbach 3s 50 Bolton 4th XV 7
The forth team embarked on the mammoth 45 mile mission to Sanbach this week to see if they could make up for the heavy loss they received at the hands of Wirral the week before. However, the first half was all Sandbach as they racked up 40 points while Bolton were suffering from jet lag from there journey. It was the second half were Bolton realised they were in a game of rugby and them suddenly the game came to life 50-0. Within the first 10 min of the second half Bolton started defending like a pack angry wolfs with the Simon and Richard Braithwaite and Stuart MacDonald tackling anything that moved and a switch to a 3 man lineout meant Bolton were starting to make a game of it pinning Sandbach in there 22 for large periods of there second half.
Bolton’s score came 10 min from time where after great work from the pack and about 6 phases of play Bolton could not seem to breach the Sandbach defence then a until a kick from James Dean which hung up in the air got attacked by Bolton’s two centres and with the Sandbach full back under pressure he missed the ball for Stuart MacDonald to get his second try of the season. In summary it could and should have been a far closer game then the score line suggests with Bolton looking to start there next match in the same manner they finished there last. Bolton 4ths are at home to Ormskirk 3s this week looking to get back on track after 2 big losses

ECCLES 3RDS 25 BOLTON 4THS 15
the game started strongly woth both teams exchanging penalties for 3-3. then eccles looked to be getting the upperhand over tonge and co in rucks. this had to be stopped! and was as the likes of steve wightman and paz began to hit hard and move bodies. this lead to the move of the game as bolton broke the eccles line down the right, strong running and rucking put bolton on the eccles try line. with two attempts at a push over not succesful, paz went for a burrow with eric (claimed after the match) leaning on him with one hand and got the ball down. excellent conversion from phil berry 10-3. An even contest was now turning into an exciting match! eccles replying straight away with a try down the right. bolton were annoyed as 3 missed tackes lead to the score. this calls for tackle practice! missed conversion 10-8 bolton. this spured bolton forward again and within the space of 5 mins bolton got a line out on the eccles 22. with the line out won bolton forwards went for a drive. with the hard yards gained bolton spun the ball out to dean who had plimmer cutting back on an angle. plimmer's storming run took him through 2 tackles and in at the corner - excellent score! the conversion missed bolton now 15-8 up. this looked to be the end of am exciting half but eccles had the last say. a maul into boltons 22 lead to a solid rum fom an eccles forward through to players including tonge. converted half time whistle blew 15-15. to say the excitement grew in the 2nd half wud be lying, both teams getting tired started to cancel each other out. eccles snuck a penalty over for 18-15 lead and then with bolton losing first captain dean with a knee injury and then captain (ish) tonge to a dislocated finger eccles sneaked 1 more converted try 25-15 final score.

BOLTON 4THS 72 WIGAN 0
a new era has dawned at bolton rugby club...that is one with a winning 4th team and new blood set to rise through the club under the guidence of Dean and Tonge.
- challenge 1 was to assemble 15 players who want to enjoy a good game of rugby. this challange was completed but only with 30mins to spare before kick-off! hopefully it will get easier as we get more organised.
- challenge 2 was to play and win our 1st game against wigan 4ths. this looked tough at 1st but as kick-off came closer we grew in confidence as wigan only had 7 players! with league rules being that teams should be fairish, 5 of our players offered themselves to the opposition so the game became a 12 on 13.
the game kicked off with a flying start for bolton, from the kick-off the ball was taken into the 1st ruck and secured, kay the pocket dynamo had time to find an on running tonge coming round the ruck to burst through the oppositions defensive line and run half the pitch to score under the posts! 5-0. Deans attempted conversion missed - think he needs more practice! this set the tone for the game with 14 other tries but only 1 conversion completed! to describe every try wud take to long so wil jus say...try scorers as follows...Dean 4, S Walsh 3, Anthony (will learn his second name soon) 4, S Mac 1, Cam (cant spell last name) 1, and finally Tonge 1! Top displays on the day came from pete cat who worked hard for the team and helped keep the youngsters heads on the pitch. Dynamo Kay was also instumental, our 2 young backs Cam and Anthony ran well with the ball including a great 1-2-1-2-1 passing move between themselves for Cam to score! With the score continually on the rise the game was stopped by a freak injury to one of our own players who played for the opposition. Up to that point, young mathew harrison promoted from the colts had been putting on impressive display for them till his back was stood in a ruck. best wishes go out to him if the team can take this to eccles next week we should come away with another victory!
