North Midlands U19 10 - 23 Yorkshire U19
Yorkshire 19s development side finish their programme with a 23-10 win against North Midlands at Dudley Kingswinford on Sunday 29th Nov.
Once again Yorkshire had to make late changes to their selected side due to injuries and clubs not releasing players to play for the County. This left Yorkshire with only 21 players for this fixture.
With all the changes Yorkshire took a while to settle, however, after 13mins Yorkshire's first try came from a lineout onthe North Midlands 10m line, after good work from the forwards setting it up for Mark Gemmell to made a break and score. After this Yorkshire took control and North Midlands kept giving penaltis away from Yorkshire pressure. After another sweeping Yorkshire attack they were againgiven a penalty, this time converted by Luke Bowler, Yorkshire had started to dominate the gameand yet another penalty by North Midlands and quick tap by Yorkshire saw Alex Rieder cross the line to make the half time score 13-0 to Yorkshire
The second half started as the first half finished with Yorkshire's forwards driving and presenting making good ball for the backs, which lead to Yorkshire's third try by Mark Gemmell to make score 18-0. Yorkshire then started to make changes from the subs bensch and these took to settle in whcih allowed North Midlands to capitalise and score a try under the post to make the score 18-7.
Yorkshire started to get it together again and from scrum in the Yorkshire half and a superb break from scrum by Mark Gemmell he set up a try for James Holland. Towards the end of the game Yorkshire themselves gave away a penalty to make the final score Yorkshire 23 North Midlands 10
This year the U19s have been strong and the U20 selectors have invited twelve players from this year squad to attend training sessions for the County Championship which starts in January.
