Cumbria 13 – 43 Yorkshire
Another strong performance against Cumbria on Sunday at Penrith has set up a winner takes all match at Hull on Sunday 20th March when Yorkshire play Lancashire, the winners go into the National Semi-Final.
Yorkshire were 5 - 0 up within 1 min of the start when Cumbria failed to clear their 10metre line, from the kick off, from the scrum Yorkshire backs took the ball into Cumbria 5metres and Carl Kirwin ( Middlesbrough) backing up scored an unconverted try.
On 6mins Yorkshire forwards took a scrum against the head deep in their own half in which the pack produced some perfectly time close support play to create the momenturn for Mark Gemmell (Leeds Met.) to release Rob Almond (Harrogate) to score. Converted by Greg Lound (Hull)
On 16mins Cumbria were awarded a penatly when Yorks were penalised for offside, converted by Grant Connon (Carlisle). Straight from the restart Yorkshire scored their third try when Carl Kirwin (Middlesbrough) picked up a loose ball to score under the posts converted by Greg Lound (Hull).
Some slack defence by Yorkshire let Cumbria No7 Joe Mallinson (Kendal) to score under the posts converted by Grant Connon (Carlisle). Yorkshire again came right back at Cumbria and scored their fourth try by Rob Almond (Harrogate), Greg Lound fail to convert. 4 mins into injury time of the first half Cumbria were awarded a penalty converted by Grant Connon (Carlisle).

The second half started the same as the first with the Yorkshire forwards dominating the line out and scrum and Yorkshire's fifth try came from a turnover ball on Cumbria 22 metre line. Yorkshire got the drive on and Stuart Cross (Manchester University) picked and scored. Converted by Greg Lound (Hull). Two further tries by Tom Hodson (Sandal) and Rory Duff (Middlresbrough) finished a comfortable win for Yorkshire. Greg Lound (Hull) adding the extras for one of the tries.
