Yorkshire U20s opened their defence of the County Championship in emphatic style with an eleven try victory against Durham at Sunderland on Sunday 23rd Jan.
Yorkshire led 26-0 at half-time with tries from Antony Maka (Malton & Norton) Stuart Costello (Otley) and two for Ben Dorrinton (Hull). Greg Lound (Hull) added three conversions.
In the second half the game was over as a contest, when the combined forward power and the pace of the back led to four more tries 2 for Mike Bradshaw (Driffield) and 2 for Will Robinson (Hull) to make the score 46-0.
With the game in the bag Yorkshire started to make changes, these took time to settle before more forward pressure from Yorkshire led to a try for Adam Malthouse (Yarnbury) and one for Sam Brady (Pontefract) converted by Greg Lound.
Brendon Hannam (Sheffield Tigers), on for the injured Stuart Costello, scored a try after excellent break from Mark Gemmell, converted by Greg Lound.
Two further tries from Carl Kirwan (Middlesbrough) and Jack Moon (Old Brodleians) and a Greg Lound conversion saw a final score Yorkshire 72- Durham 0
