Across the Rugby Development Officer district of Central Yorkshire the RFU have a development team that delivers the rugby union programme. All Community Rugby Coaches are RFU qualified and have experience working with players from U7 to adults. There are currently 2 community rugby coaches employed with 2 more to be appointed on the 10th of September 2009
To assist with the development of rugby union within schools wanting to entry any of the above competitions the Leeds and Wakefield Community Rugby Coaches will be available to offer some coaching for the players either prior to or after the festivals.
The programmes they offer include:
· To introduce safe, contact rugby to players at targeted schools & colleges. This can be in curricular or extra curricular time.
· To support the introduction of local competitions.
· So support teachers development needs.
· To create links between clubs and schools.
· After School Rugby Development Clubs or School Holiday Coaching sessions can be designed to suit the needs of the participants i.e. multi sports with a rugby theme
· RFU community leaders Award or Young officials courses linked to volunteer hours
A Daily Mail teacher’s coach education day will be run during 2009/2010 and details will be sent to those schools participating in the programme.
