How Do I Get Selected For Yorkshire U18s?
From January to April a team of selectors watch many matches to select players to be invited into the Yorkshire U18 development squad of approx. 50 players. After a development day in May the squad gets cut to about 30 players who will then make up the Yorkshire U18 squad.
All players wishing to represent Yorkshire U18 must be 16 or 17 years of age on the 31st August of that season. Year 11 & Year 12 school age.
To get selected into the initial Yorkshire U18 development squad there are 5 pathways:
1 - If you played for Yorkshire U18 a year young as an U17 you get invited into the development squad.
2 - The selectors will watch all players who represent Yorkshire U17.
3 - The selectors will watch all players who represent Yorkshire U16 in the post xmas programme. Those U16 players who played for Yorkshire in the pre xmas programme and have been selected to represent the North at the Divisional Festival and England will go automatically into the development squad.
4 - The selectors will watch all players nominated to the late entrant trial. This is a trial for all players who have not played for Yorkshire U16 and U17 this season. Essentially, this is for players who might have trialled for Yorkshire U17 and U16 but were unsuccessful but have developed throughout the season, or for new players into Yorkshire or players who might have missed out due to injury.
5 - The selectors will watch the end of season U16 district festival.
