WEAVERING WARRIORS
A brief history........
Early 2004.....The landlord and a group of friends from The Early Bird, Weavering, Maidstone decided to accept a challenge from the Medway Police to play a Charity rugby match in aid of the Kent Air Ambulance.
Despite the majority of the team having no rugby experience whatsoever, the game proved a great sucess and thanks to the efforts of the KRFU, and donations from Danny Streeter at ARKAS we entered division D in 2004, narrowly missing out on the winners spoils after a defeat at the last game decider against Aylesford.
Promoted to Division C in 2005. A tough year in only our 2nd season. Medway had the league sewn up but the runners up position went down to the wire again. A win against neighbours Maidstone and then against Gillingham in our final game ensured the runners up position for the 2nd year running.
Promotion to Divsion B in our Second season proved an extreme learning curve. We secured a new sponsor in BIRKBY CONSTRUCTION but Sevenoaks secured 1st place with an impressive number of wins. Medway also proved tough oposition to claim the runners up spot. However, we've done it again and now find ourselves on the edge of a greater challenge .......
Promotion to Division A for the 2007. 3 promotions in 3 years, not a bad record for a team fuelled on spirit rather than experience. Many thanks to Paul from ME1 and ASHES for the support both on and off the pitch.
A new season, 2008 - 2009. We return to Division B this year, with continued support from BIRKBY CONSTRUCTION and new support from Phil at S.A.M TILING and a new home at the THE KENTISH YEOMAN, Bearsted
We train at King George V Playing Field, Walnut Tree Lane, Loose every Thursday night from 7pm-9pm.
