Tupton RUFC
Tupton RUFC are a community centred Club based in the former mining village of Tupton four miles to the south of Chesterfield.
The Club was formed in 1969 by a group of local rugby enthusiasts many of whom were masters at the nearby Tupton Hall School, an institution that continues to supply players to the Club to this day. Indeed, contact with the past is further maintained through the clubs badge which has been "borrowed" from the school, a fact that still strikes fear into the heart of some of our more "active" former pupils!
As the local league system continues to contract the challenge to remain competitive is significant. Tupton continue to strive to meet that challenge with perhaps the most exciting aspect of the season so far being the continued development of the Clubs younger players that has resulted in improved performances and results.
Season 2008 - 2009 saw the Club celebrate its 40th anniversary with both first and second teams finishing in creditable league positions, the formation of a junior and mini rugby section and the winning of the Notts, Lincs and Derbyshire Vase following a fantastic day in the sun on finals day.
COME ON TUP!!!
