SWINDON COLLEGE
OLD BOYS
RFC
The season is now at an end and we look for something else to fill our Saturdays, despite a dissappointing second half to the season the 1st XV finished mid table as expected with some promising youngsters coming into the fold at the end of the campaign. Some off season interest is being kept alive through Frank George who has started a rugby league side known as Swindon St George and are playing in the southern counties league, training is on a wednesday at Supermarine RFC.
The 2nd XV didn't fair so well as a league higher was a step to far, an artificially inflated team had won the title in the 2006/7 season but those players had been recalled into the 1st XV for the following season leaving team manager Ray Durham making desperate calls each week to raise a side. The natural drop back into Dorset & Wilts 3 north will allow the seconds to regroup and start winning a few fixtures which will hopefully encourage a few of the newer lads who dissappeared half way through the seasonto put thier boots back on.
The end of season presentation evening was held at the Premier Club as usual and an enjoyable night was had by all from what anyone can remember, the following awards were presented
-
Players player of the year - Greig O'Brien

1st XV Captains Choice - Jules Gidzinski
