Swaffham 2nd XV
Swaffham’s second string is a mixture of old ex-"has-beens", returning players and new faces coming through from Swaffham’s extensive Youth section.
We play in the Woodfordes Merit Table Division 2 and we finished in the top half last season, this was mainly because we have the attitude that we don’t cancel games just because we are short, We also will have a full fixture list of friendlies,so if you want a game - don't wait to be asked, ring up and make yourself known!
John Newell has taken over as captain for this season, and once again he will be supported by Chris Upton. They are keen to build on last years success and get the second team into a much more organised unit, combining player enjoyment with a feeder side into the 1st XV (for those that want to). They are keen to hear from all players, either current or new, who may want to play, but perhaps are not sure about committing themselves to first team rugby. Although the second team is more relaxed about the game it is still an important aspect of the playing side and John is keen to see members of his side making it into the first team squad. Second team does not mean second rate!
