With the money raised last year doing the Three Peaks Challenge, and following this years Three Fells Walk, Swaffham RUFC have raised almost £10000 towards Macmillan Cancer Research. The idea began as a challenge in memory of ex Chairman Nigel Trett who died suddenly of cancer in 2004, and the aim is raise money each year by doing some form of physical challenge. Last years effort of climbing the three highest peaks in Britain in under 24 hours, was successfully completed by a team of fifteen climbers, and raised over £4000.
This years challenge was to walk approx. 25 miles and at the same time climb the three highest fells in England - in under 12 hours. The team of thirteen walkers and two drivers completed the course in 10 hours and six minutes and this years sponsorship has netted over £5000. What we shall do in 2007 is anyone's guess, but if you get asked for sponsorship, please give generously - and remember Nigel.
