North Midlands and East Midlands will meet in the final of the Midlands Under-18 Championship at Broadstreet RFC on Super Sunday play-off day on Sunday November 4.
Both won their final group matches this evening in contrasting styles. North Midlands ran in seven tries in a 43-15 win over Staffordshire at Droitwich while East Midlands had to rely on kicks to edge out Notts, Lincs & Derbyshire 12-6 at Peterborough.
North Midlands were only 14-10 ahead at half-time against Staffordshire, but they found their form in the second half and eased to an emphatic win.
Greater Birmingham wing Dan Micklewright scored two tries for North Midlands as did their captain and centre Andy Short (Worcester Sixth Form College and Worcester).
The other tries came from left wing James Riley, flanker Bobby Lawrenson and replacement fly-half Matt Marskell (all Worcester) with Rhys Hayes of Ellesmere College and Shropshire landing four conversions.
Staffordshire's points came through tries from Newport winger Tom Smith and Lichfield fly-half Luke Massey who also landed a conversion and penalty.
Staffordshire will now meet NL&D in the third-place play-off at Broadstreet on November 4.
