Over 40 Staffordshire senior and junior coaches attended a coaching seminar on Scrummaging given by England Academy coach Dorian West at Lichfield RFC.
Dorian worked with the 2 packs of Staffordshire under 20 forwards squad who benefited greatly from the hands on experience. He spent 2 hours in total developing the scrum from front row backwards, using both a scrummaging machine and then with 2 packs head to head.
It was an excellent session, very well attended by over 40 local coaches. Dorian completed the evening with a Q&A session in the Lichfield clubhouse. Afterwards Derek Pemberton Hon Sec of the Staffs Referees Society presented details of the new scrum engagement laws

Staffordshire Coaching Society plan to make this the first of a series of coaching courses aimed at developing their level 1 coaches towards level 2 competence.
Dorian played 21 times as hooker for England and toured with the Lions to Australia in 2001. He was awarded the MBE for services to rugby after the England World Cup win in 2003
