R U SAFE TO SCRUM?
The RFU West Midlands Rugby Development Team recently held a "Front Row in Union" coaching event at Newcastle RFC aimed at updating coaches and making sure that they are able to conduct safe and productive scrummaging sessions.
The sessions were led
Graham Smith, RFUW England Coach and Matt Ferguson, RFU National RDO
The sessions focussed on the following areas
Safe and effective warm ups for scrum incorporating the latest techniques to help condition players.
Development of individual body position relating to all positions
Unit work including safe use of machines and live scrum sessions in a competitive environment
Conditioning for effective scrummaging
All coaches attending received a Front Row in Union booklet, certificate of attendance and had the opportunity to question presenters. |
