Club Safeguarding Officer (CSO)
Welcome to the Club Safeguarding Officers (CSOs) part of the RU Safe site. Our thanks go to you for your continued support as a member of the RFUs national "Safeguarding Team".
This site hopes to provide everything you need to fulfil the CSO role, from information to documentation, policies to procedures. Don't forget as well that the "Useful Links" menu has lots of links to national safeguarding sites which may be of use.
If you feel there is something missing on this page then please contact us and give us your feedback and suggestions.
Reporting Incidents: If you have any cause for concern about an incident then report it, better safe than sorry. A quick referral to the RFU Safeguarding Team means the appropriate action/advice can be taken/given. Too many cases do not get reported early enough leading to probelms with investigations.
We need to hear about (not an exhaustive list):
-
child abuse - sexual/physical/verbal/mental
-
bullying & racism
-
poor coaching practice (eg coaches showering at same time as players, coaches taking part in contact games/training; coaches entering the playing enclosure during games)
-
parents (eg inciting violent play; abuse from touchline; entering field of play etc)
If in doubt contact us.
There is lots more support and guidance and all the doucments you will ever need in the "Useful RFU Resources"
