1. The original application was from Exeter Chiefs RFC in which they stated that Exeter
Chiefs RFC would retain control of the Junior Section including the Colts. As players left
the Colts they would be directed to Exeter Athletic RFC. This shows that Exeter Athletic
RFC is the result of an executive decision taken by Exeter Chiefs RFC, therefore, this is
not a stand-alone club which is further enforced by the fact that they will play at Sandy
Park.
2. Exeter Athletic RFC were proposed by Withycombe RFC (whose President is Tony
Rowe owner of Exeter Chiefs RFC) and seconded by Exeter Chiefs RFC. As Exeter
Chiefs RFC was the originator of the proposal they cannot be seen to
be an independent seconder and therefore this should be rejected.
3. Exeter Chiefs Colts have, on occasions, Academy players in their team which means
that Exeter Colts directly or indirectly benefit from the Rugby Football Union Academy.
As the Exeter Chiefs RFC policy is to be to direct players from Exeter Chiefs Colts to
Exeter Athletic RFC this means they could either directly or indirectly benefit from the
Academy, this cannot be allowed.
This application for a Special General Meeting has been proposed and authorised by the
committee of Wessex RFC and signed on its behalf by:
