AVAILABILITY
The appointments secretary will ask members by email of their availability for the following month, and take known unavailability into account when scheduling the appointments.
If you cannot fulfill an appointment, you should notify the reappointments secretary and home club contact as soon as possible. If one is appointed, you should also notify your adviser.
APPOINTMENTS
The appointments secretary will notify you monthly and weekly of the matches to which you have been appointed. The schedule of appointments is made by taking all fixtures of which the Society is aware, and assigning a referee of the appropriate grade to each game.
To cover for last minute withdrawals and fixture changes, there is also a reappointments process which operates in the few days leading up to each block of fixtures. You may be contacted on a Thursday or Friday and be asked to officiate at a different game.
To assist in this process, and because at the time of making the initial appointments there are not enough games for all available referees, you may be placed on reserve. Reserve referees are usually the first to be called upon in the event that the reappointments process kicks in.
