Doug Bosley
President of the Oxfordshire RFU 2010
Firstly let me say it is as a great honour for me to be made President of Oxfordshire RFU.
To introduce myself to you, I have been involved with rugby for over 30 years. I have been a playing member of Harwell RFC, since I joined them in 1980, and have been Secretary of the club for the last twelve years.
I first became involved with the county when I became a member of the disciplinary panel, and in 2004 I joined the county committee, where one of my first roles was Chair of Community Rugby. In 2006 I became Chair of Competitions, a job I really enjoy because it keeps me close to the game, and which I will continue to do while serving as President.
It is good to see Oxfordshire Rugby progressing well, we have Witney promoted to SW1East, Oxford promoted to Southern Counties North, and new clubs entering the league system such as Faringdon, and Alchester now entering a second team. We also have two more teams entering the County Cup; they are The University Greyhounds, returning after a few years’ absence, and also Oxford Brookes University.
I would also like to pass on my congratulations to Paul Murphy, the Oxfordshire RFU representative for many years, who has now been elected as junior vice president of the RFU and will be President in 2012.
To finish, I wish each club a successful season in reaching their objective, and look forward to visiting you all next season.
Enjoy your rugby.
