Old Wheats A v Copsewood / Saras 2’s
Weather was the winner ….
With wonderful weather shining down on the Stade a mixed side took to the field.
Unfortunately not a game anyone would care to remember but both sides played rugby as it is meant to be played - with full respect of each other.
For the record only, scorers included:
Aitkins (withdrawn from the game early on!)
Loachy (moved to the wing early on)
JK (also withdrawn early on, before returning for a quick stint in the back row to show all what sprint training can do for you!)
Gillam –great pick up & step from the skipper.
Stevie Johns (looking sharper that a Gillette Max)
Barrell – class, again
Dunc – delight to see back playing & the magic side step lives on …
Dean – all back row to note and start to worry about their places …!
Paul H – prop come wing, smiled all day and beautiful step to finish.
Lewis – after a long lay-off, showed why he has been so sorely missed, but now back & better than ever.
(apologies to any others – let us know if missed you so can keep stats up to date)
Thanks to the opposition and full apologies for the cold showers – boiler malfunction so we owe you all a beer.
Thanks also to referee Scott Bryant – great job in difficult circumstances, & any ref that only plays 50mins gets legendary status!
It was great for the club to have old school players (they don’t like to be called veterans) on the field. The likes of Hasto, Paul H & Greg on the field are all as classy as their younger versions (except for Greg, who is way classier than Casper!)
A massive black cloud was enforced upon the Stade with the Beast leaving the field with a nasty ankle injury, the clock will be ticking to get him back on the field in time for next week. A speedy recovery is hoped for by all (& Caroline please let him continue playing!)
Next week the 1’s have an extremely difficult game v Trinity Guild and a massive effort will be made to field a 2nd XV rangers side. So when contacted about availability please please reply asap! Thanks!
DOTD: whoever forgot to turn on the boilers!
MOTM: Several good performaces, especially from the various members of the tight 5 that gave the platform. Awarded to Carl Dennis for determination in the scrum and storming run with ball in hand.
