“Passionate about Rugby Union in the North East”
Rugby World Cup 2015
President Andy Thomson told the members of Northumberland Rugby Union County Committee last night that the North East of England acting as one of the hosts for the preliminary rounds of the Rugby World Cup in 2015 offers huge opportunities and potential benefits to the clubs and businesses in the county. He encouraged clubs to start thinking of ways they can take advantage from the many visitors who will visit the county and from new and returning players and members to their clubs.
Andy Thomson along with Matt Carter, Regional Rugby Development Manager for the North East, Jim Coulson, RFU Council Member and chair of Marketing for NRU and Robin Wannop, RFU Council Member for Durham Rugby Union have started the planning for the production of a Strategic Plan for the North East of England to ensure every opportunity has been considered and arrangements made prior to the announcement of the countries who will be based in the region to ensure clubs and businesses prosper from the RWC 2015.
Help and ideas from the all involved in the promotion and participation of Rugby Union and Business in the North East will be welcome.
