Ashington RFC - Ron Self.
Joined the club in 1948/9 season and played over 20 years. Has since held
every post in the club at one time or another and has served on every committee.
For the last 10 years has served as Saturday Duty officer, a post which includes
cleaning the changing rooms in preparation for Sunday youth
rugby.
Berwick RFC - Jim Turner. Founder member
of the reformed club in 1968 and has been a constant member of the committee
since then. Effectively the `father' of the club.
Blyth
RFC - Roger Phillips.
A convert to the game from football and cricket and who has never played
rugby but has given 15 years of service on the management and other committees.
Currently subscription secretary and press officer.
Border Park RFC - Keith Robson.
Recently made a life member of the club after years of pitch marking,
ground maintenance and, most importantly, running the bar.
Gosforth RFC - Malcolm Bell.
Decades of service to the club as team manager and fixture secretary. Is
also club statistician with a vast knowledge of past and current
players.
Medicals RFC - Dr.Mel McQuillin.
After over 30 years service Mel. Continues to serve the club. He is
regarded as a bedrock of the club and a superb example of dedication, commitment
and loyalty.
Morpeth RFC - Bill Hewitt. An exceptional
club servant for `multi decades' Bill is currently fixture secretary; club
statistician; assistant coach, 1st.XV touch judge; representative to
the county committee; chairman of selectors and referees liaison
officer.
North Shields RFC - Alastair Shield.
A long term player who combined playing with committee work. He has been
fixture secretary for over 20 years. More recently has acted as official club
tour organiser.
Ponteland RFC - Bill Snaith.
Has been involved in running the club since its inception in 1967. Has
been much involved with youth and mini rugby as well as committee work. Is
currently club fixture secretary but also helps out as team manager, with
transport and food.
Prudhoe and Stocksfield RFC - Alan Carr. A club founder member Alan
has filled virtually every position over the years. He is the match day first
aider/physio and is half of the after match `pie and pea'
team.
Seghill RFC - JohnAtherton. With club service
now nearing a 5th. decade John is the much valued complete club man. Over the years he
has filled many positions in addition to the work he has done for Northumberland
as a county of which he is a past president. He is currently club
treasurer.
Wallsend RFC - Brian Thirlaway. After many years
as a player and coach Brian's career was curtailed by injury which resulted in
the loss of a leg. Despite this he switched to committee work as a means of
assisting the club. Although nominally club secretary his work seems to
encompass everything from decorating, cooking, repairs and cleaning.

Bay
Rockcliff RFC - Lawrence
Fletcher. Lawrence is seen by the club to embody all that is
worthy of promoting in rugby. After long service as a player he has turned to
committee work and has been responsible for the club's business and development
plans. He has acted as club treasurer for 8 years and is highly respected for
his organisational abilities.
NRU Coaching Committee - John
Clark. For over 20 years
John has run Tynedale's colts XV and given many boys a
stepping stone to senior rugby. He has extended that interest and effort to
colts rugby across Northumberland and is currently NRU U-18
chairman.
Referees Society - Geoff Parkinson. Geoff
has given a life-time of service to refereeing in Northumberland and the North
Federation. He has been treasurer of NRURS for as long as most can remember and
has always been involved in developing new refereeing
talent.
Rugby
Development Partnership - Chris Davy. Coming to
administration through involvement with schools rugby Chris has, for over 30
years, both coached and developed the youth game within Northumberland. His
boundless enthusiasm has aided growth and development at all ages from mini (of
which he was a founder proponent in the county) to U-19 level. This contribution
will also be recognised when Chris
is elected County president in June this year.
Senior Rugby
XV - Albert Stephenson.
Albert has been baggage man to the county senior XV for a decade. Showing
great attention to the detail of players' needs he has earned the respect and
esteem of all players and officers during his years of
help.
