NORTH WEST FEDERATION OF RUGBY UNION REFEREES’SOCIETIES
Representatives of the Furness, Liverpool and Manchester Societies met at Preston Grasshoppers RFC on Sunday 17th January, 1999 to develop a framework within which the three Societies could work together for the benefit of their members and the Clubs which they serve. It was agreed that representatives of the three Societies would meet again on 28th March, 1999 to discuss a number of issues related to the formation of a Committee which would coordinate the work of Committees of representatives of the three Societies, dealing with Finance; Administration and Recruitment; and Refereeing Performance.
Since that date, the Furness Society have joined forces with their other colleauges in Cumbria and become part of the North Federation along with the Durham and Northumberland Societies. Therefore the Liverpool and Manchester Societies now make up the North West Federation of RFU Referees
