7. Reports
a. Development Squad: GD reported that the number of L5 refs was down due to injury and unavailability. Four meetings are planned for the Squad. The membership of the squad is the same as that reported at the last meeting, except for Dan Guizdek. He reported that he had not been sent any reports for Manchester referees. GS will remedy this. GC asked what the returning procedures were for those who were currently ‘off’ the L5 scheme. GD explained.
b. Appointments and Exchanges: Len Gayley stated that he felt that the L6 appointment system is proceeding well. It was agreed to compile a joint Federation adviser report form for members of the Development Squad. This would clarify the distribution of reports and the need to claim expenses from the Federation Treasurer. TR sort clarification re the use the Development Squad L6 games and whether these could be used for exchange purposes. It was agreed that this was appropriate so long as the benefits of such exchanges were solely for Development Squad members.
c. Assessing and Coaching: JT reported that Tony Aldwinkle and Brian Davies were L5 assessors for the next season. GS stated that there were none in Manchester currently. He also reported on the creation of a L11/ELRA group of observers which was flourishing. The issue now it to fill the gap in L10 observers. GG reported that Roger Bowden was now coordinating coaching in Manchester.
d. Training & Development: The Society Adviser Award scheduled for the 23rd October would be cancelled as there were no takers! The CRDA module re development planning and the fitness test sessions had both been reasonably well attended. PR then enquired re the organising of the intended Club Adviser sessions and asked GS & JT to consider dates/venues for the second half of the season.
e. Updates from RefDM: PR had circulated his report format that he has to submit on a monthly basis to HQ. He spoke briefly to the headings of the report and asked for progress re the use of the CRDA modules. PR informed the meeting that the Referee Manager is aiming to visit the Federation at the next or subsequent meeting. Finally, he reported that has developed the Federation website, mainly for young refs. GC suggested the need for a link from Society websites to the Federation site. PR will send a link to Stuart McCormick and Dave Guerin.
