6. Reports.
a) Development Squad: Three L6 refs had been watched by L5 assessors – GD reported that it was likely that Andy Rawson and Mark Jackson would not be accepted onto the L5 Scheme due to their reports but Colin Burrell and Karl Kirkpatrick would. Nominated Development Squad referees for next season: Liverpool - James Brown, Tim Brown, Richard Lowton, David Clarkson, Brendon McGaffney, Josh Smith, and Moria Pritchard. Manchester: Andy Rawson, Craig Hooper, Danny Taylor, Max Barnard. These were agreed. Those underlined were seen has having potential to be consider to the L5 selection process next season and societies should ensure that they as the required portfolio of matches by the end of Oct ’09. GD indicated that Development Squad meetings were likely to be held at Widnes next season. Nominated L6 Assessors: Brian Davies, Bill Taylor and Brian Stott. L5 Coaches: Paul Warrington’s nomination as a coach for the L5 Scheme was fully supported by the meeting. GC highlighted the need to get the nomination processes correct in the future so that the Federation would not be seen in a poor light.
b) Appointments and Exchanges: AF and TR would liaise re the identification of suitable L6 appointment for prospective L5 referees as indicated in a) above
c) Assessing and Coaching: JT indicated that a successful meeting of Liverpool Society Advisers and coaches had taken place at New Brighton on the 26th April. PR had led the day and introduce the concept of the ‘REVIEW’ process when feedback to referees.
d) Training and Development: It was agreed to run a joint programme again. PR suggested the need for an accurate database of official qualifications so that those lacking in recent courses could be targeted. In order to boost the number of adviser course he recommended that both Societies could start a basic level advising course at one of next season’s main meetings.
e) RefDM/RefDO: PR reported on the development of RugbyFirst in the Liverpool Society and plans to arrange meetings with the two CBs to seek their support for the web based appointment scheme with clubs.
