PLAYERS’ CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Play for the “Fun of it” - not just to please your parents or coach.
2. Play by the Laws of the Game.
3. Never argue with the referee’s decision.
4. Control your temper.
5. Play well for yourself and your team - your team’ performance will benefit and so will you.
6. Be a good sport. Recognise all good play, whether by your own team or your opponents team. Demonstrate ‘Fair Play’ on and off the field.
7. Treat all players as you yourself would like to be treated. Do not interfere with, bully or take unfair advantage of any players.
8. Remember that the aims of the game are to have fun, improve your skills and feel good. Do not be a show off!
9. Co-operate with your coach, team mates and the referee, for without them you will not have a game.
10.Speak out if you are concerned about anything or if you feel uncomfortable about your own needs and those of others.
9. Be organised and on time.
PARENTS’ CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Foster enthusiastic participation, do not force an unwilling child to participate in rugby.
2. Encourage respect for referees by not publicly questionin the referee’s decision and never his or her honesty.
3. Remember that children learn best by example. Applaud good play by your team and by members of the opposing team.
4. Respect differences in gender, disability, culture, race ethnicity and religious belief systems between yourselves and others. Challenge discrimination and prejudice.
5. Encourage your child always to play by the Laws of the Game.
6. Never ridicule or scold a child for making a mistake in a game.
7. Teach your child that honest effort is as important a victory, so that defeat is accepted without undue disappointment.
8. Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches and referees. They give of their time and resources to enable your child to play rugby.
9. Remember that children play rugby for their own pleasure. They are not there to entertain you and they are not miniature pro athletes!
10. Instill in your child an understanding and enjoyment of the value of coaching.
