Manchester & District Rugby Union Referees' Society serves the refereeing needs of 248 teams from 102 Clubs, Schools and Universities. Last season, this involved well over 3,500 appointments to games in our 'home' area which extends fromCrewe to Lancaster and Rossendale to Warrington. We also 'Exchanged' referees and advisers with other Societies throughout England and also in Ireland, Denmark, Dubai, South Africa, Canada and Hong.
We currently have 127 referees (most of them active or semi-active!!), who are assisted by 67 Advisers/Coaches. Three of our members are on the RFU National Panel of Referees, 2 are IRB Advisers, 4 are RFU Senior Referee Coaches, 3 RFU Advisers and 5 are Northern Group Advisers/Coaches.
The Society organizes Training and Development courses for Referees and Advisers at all levels and also for those who want to referee at their own clubs for adult, junior or mini games.
