At LMRFC we welcome all playing abilities and although attached to the University of Leicester Medical School, players from any background. Our previous alumni range from never having touched a ball to a now international sevens player and a PhD Astrophysicist to a Joiner.
We offer two men’s and one women’s team. Our 1st XV play in NAMS (National Association of Medical Schools) and our Development and Women’s XV play local fixtures.
The club trains on Manor Road Pitches Wednesdays at 7pm to fit your schedule as a Medical Student and plays on Saturdays on a 3 on 1 off basis (Home games at Stoughton Drive Pitches). Both venues are close to Halls of Residence.
The club has a strong social scene and supports members academically.
Our season ends with an exhibition match against Leicester Doctors which inevitably leads to a curry and drinks. This is one of the most enjoyable days and nights as a member of the club... When else could you dump tackle your Consultant or Registrar then have them buy you a pint?
We are very proud to be highly involved in Student Rugby at a Regional and National level, feed students into the RFU Leadership Academy and have strong links to Stoneygate RFC.
