Report:
Knottingley started the new season with an emphatic win over rivals YMCA. Fielding a huge pack of forwards, Knottingley were soon in command of what
turned out to be a one sided game.
First to score was backrower Dave Stead, after the Knottingley pack took
the first of many scrums against the head, Mark Steadman adding the
extras.
Next on the
scoresheet was prolific centre Mick O'Rourke, who later went on to add another
five to his tally, this time John Godwin sent him in, again Steadman
goaling.
Further tries
followed from Ian Beach 2 and Andy Alexander 2, with Steadman converting two
more and Beach tagging on a couple.
The referee
decided that enough was enough and blew the final whistle with twenty minutes
still to play.
In an
excellent team performance players worthy of a special mention were Mick
O'Rourke for his six tries and new recruit Effie
Plodmore.
