Kruts v Featherstone Lions
Knottingley Rockware U12s 22 Featherstone
Lions U12s 10
Knottingley emerged
victorious after a tense tussel with close rivals Featherstone. Early Fev pressure meant long spells of
defending for Knottingley with Asher Hoyle, Ryan Barnaby, Tom Langdale and Gino
Burnett leading by example. Knott
broke the deadlock with a well taken try from Ben Reynolds which was followed by
a period of attacking play by Knott which saw Terence Link, Grant Smith, Benny
Tucker and Tom Fitzsimmons all involved.
Fev snatched their first try
and the first half turned round 4-4. Knott scored first in the second half when
Reynolds pounced on a ball Fev were waiting to bounce dead and then Reynolds
claimed his hattrick soon after, great team play from Curtis Macdonald, James
Mattin and James Raywood contributing to the score. In a game when the forwards
didn't see much of the ball, Eddy Smart, Andy Woolford, Robert Nicholls and
Fitzsimmons still gave one hundred percent and Link improved the scoreline
crossing in the corner. Fev
wouldn't give in and hit back with another converted try which closed the gap to
six points. Knott, however, were
not there for the taking and when Mattin scooted under the posts to increase
Knottingley's lead, which Link converted, Featherstone's fate was sealed.
Nicky
Beach and Ryan Nelison
impressed with their attitude to selection and still made an impression once on
the field. Ryan Hart, on his first game for Knottingley, showed
potential.
