Kruts v Feath 280106 Kruts 32 Featherstone Lions 4
Knottingley bounced back from last weeks defeat with a resounding victory, scoring eight tries but not managing to land one conversion. Back to the flowing rugby we're used to, Knottingley were first on the score sheet with Ryan Hart crossing after only a few minutes. Knottingley then settled themselves, moving the ball well and subjected Featherstone to a spell of sustained pressure, Ryan Barnaby, Benny Tucker, Ben Reynolds, Asher Hoyle, James Raywood and Robert Nicholls all prominent. Fev held out well though and hit back with their only reply of the match. Confidence was high in the Knottingley camp and Barnaby went over to improve the scoreline. James Mattin, Tom Fitzsimmons, Reynolds and Hoyle combined well in defence. Hoyle scored next, scooting from dummy half, after an exhilarating passage of play involving Curtis Macdonald, Gino Burnett, Terence Link, Tom Langdale, Tucker and Barnaby. Birthday boy, Mattin, bagged his first try shortly afterwards, collecting a great ball from Burnett in a move started by Liyam Laraba.
Tucker opened the scoring in the second half but Knott then found themselves defending their own line, good work by Ryan Neilson, Nicky Beach and Laraba preventing Fev from improving their score. Mattin soon added his second try and Tucker followed closely with his. Fresh legs were needed in the forwards as Nicholls and Raywood had worked tirelessly and Eddy Smart and Andy Woolford were more than ample replacements. Reynolds wrapped the afternoon up by taking a well deserved try of his own. |
