Knottingley took the spoils in this Castleford Cup match in
tremendous fashion. Taking the game to Panthers, Knott opened the scoring when
Curtis Macdonald dived on a Gino Burnett kick to open their account. Dogged
defending from Ryan Barnaby, Ben Reynolds, James Mattin, Benny Tucker and James
Raywood kept Panthers pegged in their own half. With forwards Andy Woolford, Tom
Fitzsimmons and Raywood combining well with their backs it was only a matter of
time before Knott increased their lead, Reynolds diving over from a 10 metre
scrum. Knott kept up the pressure with Burnett, Asher Hoyle, Liam Kitchen and
Tom Langdale moving the ball well, resulting in Nicky Beach crossing in the
corner. Starting the second half 12-0 ahead, Knott kept up their relentless
pressure and Reynolds crossed for his second with Tucker adding the conversion.
Panthers replied with a try of their own but the fightback was short lived.
Fresh legs, in the form of Mikey Dalton, Eddy Smart, Liyam Laraba, Ryan Neilson
and Alan Scott Foster continued the Knottingley romp putting Grant Smith over
and Tucker obliged with the conversion. A well deserved win sees Knottingley
progress to the next round of this competition.
