Knottingley travelled to cold Keighley on Saturday and returned
with an excellent victory against opponents from the league above.
The visitors started shakily and had two clearance kicks charged
down the second of which led to try for the home side's number 11. After this
Knottingley took control in the forwards and outworked their opponents with a
series of punishing line out drives. Knottingley scored two first half tries
after good work from the forwards Paul Sutcliffe crashed over and Dave Sonia
scored a pushover from a scrum Coutts added both conversions and a penalty. The
half ended with Keighley adding two penalties
Knottingley started the second half well and looked to kill off
their opponents and did so with tries from Steve Rocket & Dave Sonia and
Coutts added penalty Knottingley played very well second half up the slope and
various breaks from the backs went un rewarded after some fantastic scrambling
defence from Keighley. However more pressure was exerted and Knottingley scored
further tries through P Sutcliffe and W Stanfield with Coutts having a good day
with the boot landing 6 from 8attempt. The home side finished the scoring with a
try under the posts after a string of penalties which put Knott under pressure.
Knott entertain Ripon at home Saturday in a vital Yorkshire 2
game and have a very important Decemeber with some crucial league
fixtures
