Jarrow under 10s came home from this prestigious tournament with their heads held high having reached the final of the plate competition. Despite a terrific hat trick from Adam Roberts in the first match Jarrow went down to a strong Novos team. their slow start continued in the second game against Ponteland, however from there on the sun shone on the Jarrow team.
A final league victory against Tynemouth with trys from Charlie Winn-Davison, Jordan Campbell and Carl Maloney scoring his first Jarrow try, set up a plate quarter final clash with Westoe B.
Against a plucky South Shields outfit Jarrow upped their game and a first half hat trick from Winn-Davison set them on their way. Westoe came back into the game with a well deserved try but Ryan Erskine's strong run gained Jarrow another try with Jordan Campbell and Adam Roberts finishing the game with scores. This result led to a clash with old friends Westoe A.
The Westoe A game was a tense and tight encounter with the advantage swinging one way, then another. Westoe took the lead with a powerful try, but almost immediately Jarrow came back with a Jordan Campbell special. then the two defences really played well. Mark Traill and Connor Brown were stopped by good Westoe tackling but equally excellent work from Ben Winthrop and Dan Thomas put paid to some dangerous Westoe attacks, in the end it was Jordan Campbell who settled the game in Jarrow's favour with a fine try.
The competition plate final against Tynedale A was a case of after the Lord Mayor's Show and despite the hard work by Charlie Winn-Davison and Adam McGow it was the home side who finished winners. However Jarrow finished a hot day with their heads high and some runner up medals in their pocket.

DYNAMOS PUT JARROW FIRMLY ON THE TYNEDALE MAP
Sunday saw Jarrow Under 11 Dynamos make the trip to the picturesque venue of Tynedale RFC in Corbridge. The event was the prestigious Tynedale 7's Tournament. On a day where temperatures reached 26 Celsius, it was going to be a very "big ask" of the boys in yellow and black to perform for a day long tournament of 6 very hot games. With these scorching temperatures and rock hard pitches it was not an event for the faint hearted. True to form though, the ever smiling members of the Henderson Engineering sponsored Dynamo squad, were totally undaunted and ready to face anybody who would stand against them!
In a round of four games, against teams from much larger clubs, the fearless Jarrovians were keen to ply their trade. Starting with Penrith, it was immediately obvious that Jarrow were there to win. In a blistering game where the forwards had to be swift and the three quarters rapid and technical, Jarrow went into the break 21-0 up. The second half saw Penrith recover somewhat, managing to put 19 points onto the board. However a final Zach Clarke try put the game out of their reach. Final score 28-19.
The next three games were simply outstanding. Game 2 against Blaydon was a 35-0 rout with Danny Taylor in scintillating form for 3 first half tries. The support work was also exemplary enabling Clarke and Jason Waugh to sew it up with two more converted tries.
Game 3 was against the respected Alnwick RFC. Once again, Dynamos both attacked and defended strongly. Superb support from winger Elliot Appleby saw him touch down for 5 points whilst several expert switches from stand off Kallum Taylor enabled Clarke and scrum half Taylor to clean up for another 35-0 victory.
Game 4 was against mighty Hosts Tynedale. They were known to be favourite in group. Unperturbed, the Dynamos took the game to them. Intense forwards work from Matty Symonds, and Danny Gray once again allowed scrum half Taylor to take us into the break 21-0 up. The second half saw the Hosts attempt to break through to gain points, but once again outstanding defensive work from Sam Gaff and Mark Bonner saw them stopped in their tracks. The game ended with a blistering drive from prop Liam Becke who took the final score to 33-0 Jarrow.
This 100% record secured their semi final position in the main cup competition against Cumbrian giants Keswick. Jarrow kicked off and took the ball out for a Keswick line out 10m from their try line. Jarrow turned them over with a great steal from forward Waugh who bounced the ball back to hooker Becke who immediately offloaded to scrum half Taylor who broke through for the try. The next 2 restarts saw both Zach Clarke and Kallum Taylor steal their own kick offs and score. Two well deserved Keswick tries saw a half time score of 21-14. In the second half, the superb Jarrovians simply locked Keswick out of the game. Full time score 35-14 to Jarrow.
Having knocked out favourites in group, Tynedale, they now had to face Tournament favourites, Northern in the final. This was undoubtedly the highlight of the day. Jarrow had come into the tournament, virtually as unknowns, and literally bulldozed their way to the top for a David and Goliath style final. In similar form, Northern had also beaten everybody all the way to the final. As the crowds gathered to watch this spectacle, the Dynamos took to the pitch ready to take on Goliath. Dynamos kicked off and immediately put Northern under pressure. To the delight of the Tyneside crowd, the Jarrow pack pressed forward and Zach Clarke ripped out of the maul for the first five points. Converted by Taylor, the Dynamos were 7 points closer to the Cup. However, Northern fought back strongly and superior ball handling skills saw them outflank Jarrow twice in succession scoring 14 points. In a crushing knock for knock game, Elliot Appleby came down the wing just before the half time to bring the score back to 12-14 to Northern. The second half saw the slick ball handling of Northern take a tight rein on the game. Had it not been for the dedication of the Jarrow players, Northern might have run away with it for a while. They put another 17 points onto the board forcing Jarrow onto the defensive. Jarrow Dynamos however, have never been known for giving up. In the final frantic 4 minutes of the game, The Dynamos came back with a vengeance putting 7 points down. However, time was against them and the final score was 19-33 to Northern. Overall, it was a fantastic performance from Jarrow. They went to Tynedale as relative unknowns and came away with finalists medals. Now the Cumbrians and the Northumberland teams, as well as the usual Durham League teams all want to play the Jarrow Dynamos.
