FANTASTIC GYM ALLOWS YM TO TRAIN EVEN WHEN SNOW ARRIVES
.
All the effort put in turning the YM gym into the fantastic facility it now is really paid off on Tuesday when the snow arrived. Over 30 players enjoyed a great inside and outside circuit.
1ST XV AT HOME FOR FIRST TIME IN 2012 THIS WEEKEND
.
This weekend sees the YM 1st XV at home for the first time in 2012 against Crusaders in EC1. A great start to 2012 has seen the 1st XV unbeaten and holding fifth place in EC1 which would be a fantastic place to finish in their first season in EC1. Injuries are still playing a major part in team selection but players are slowly getting back to fitness and it is hoped many will be back soon for the last few months of the season. The Hawks and 3rds are also in league action this weekend with the Hawks going the short distance to Ipswich and the 3rds going to Clacton. Both these sides have been hit the hardest by the injuries but not only continue to play their fixtures but also continue to give 110% even with most games being very hard for them. Once again this weekend new players will take to the field for these sides. The new intake of players this season has been fantastic and puts the YM in a great position for the future.

1ST XV WIN AWAY AND HAWKS AND 3RDS JOIN TOGETHER IN GREAT DAY FOR THE YM
.
Great day for the YM yesterday. 1st XV came home with a 20 - 9 win over Southwold. A great performance that sees the YM back up to 5th in EC1. With the late call off of Felixstowe the 2s and 3s joined together to play Stow 2s. In all we used 34 players in the game which was fantastic. It did mean that players did not get that many minutes on the pitch but everybody did get at least 20 minutes. Most clubs would have sent the 3rds home but we believe that getting as many people playing is more important. It was very hard for the YM in the first half as making so many changes is hard on the team but the players showed they were more than a match for Stow 2s in the second half. The game ended 22 - 5 to Stow but with the YM once again showing what being part of the YM is all about.

FIRST HOME GAMES OF THE NEW YEAR THIS WEEKEND
.
The home of Ipswich YM will at last see a home game in 2012 with the YM Hawks and 3rds this weekend. The Hawks take on Stowmarket IIs and the 3rds will play Felixstowe 2s. With so many injuries at the YM it is fantastic that the club can still field 3 sides. The 1st XV travel to Southwold for what will be as always a very tough game with the YM having to be at their very best if they want to come back with a win. All games kick off at 2.15pm.

GREAT DAY AT MALDON WITH BOTH GAMES GOING DOWN TO THE WIRE
.
With no league fixtures this weekend the YM sent the Hawks and 'A' XV to Maldon to play two friendly matches against their 2s and 3s. Both games were very close with the teams in both games very evenly matched. The Hawks came back from being 31 - 19 down to win in the last few minutes of the match 33 - 31 with a late try from winger Pitt. The 'A' XV were not so lucky with Maldon scoring with the last play of the game to win 27 - 24. A great day was had by all and Maldon were great hosts.

1ST XV JUST LOSE OUT TO WEST NORFOLK
.
It has been a hard few weeks for the YM 1st XV with league games against all the leagues top opposition and once again the YM just fell short of the win against West Norfolk. After a fantastic start which saw the YM lead 10 - 0 West Norfolk were gifted a try when very poor defence aloud them to score under the posts. This picked the YM up and the next 15 minutes saw some great attacking play from the YM which resulted in Dower going over for a great try. With the score now 15 - 7 it looked as if the YM pressure was going to result in another score when a very poor pass saw a West Norfolk back intercept the ball and run the length of the pitch to score. With the score now 15 - 14 the YM did have enough time to convert a penalty to go in at half time 18 - 14 up. The second half will be a half that the YM will want to forget with mistake after mistake giving West Norfolk more and more of the ball. This resulted in first a converted penalty and then 2 tries giving West Norfolk a 27 - 18 lead. For the last 10 minutes the YM did start playing like they can again and with 8 minutes left a Healey try and Elliston conversion made the score 25 - 27 and set up a tense last few minutes. The YM again pushed forward but the West Norfolk defence held firm and with the ref forgetting to play any injury time the match finished with West Norfolk winning 27 - 25. Again the YM will be left thinking how could they have lost this game but also knowing they could have done much better in lots of areas. On the plus side they again showed that they can give anyone in this league a good game and with a bit bigger squad will soon be turning close losses like this into wins. Next weekend sees a break from the league with the 1st XV taking on Essex League 1 leaders Billericay in Round 3 of the National Vase. With so many injuries this season the YM are looking for new players in all positions for there 1st XV. If you are interested please contact Andrew Moore on 07955812251.

YM WIN CLUB OF THE YEAR AT SUFFOLK SPORTS AWARDS AND RUNNER UP IN TEAM OF THE YEAR
.
Last night saw a fantastic night for the YM with the club winning Club of the Year for 2011 and the 1st XV runners up in the Team of the Year at the Suffolk Sports Awards. When the YM found out they had made the shortlist for two Suffolk Sports Awards this was a fantastic reward for a great season on and off the field, at no point did anyone at the club think we might win one of them. This is in fact what happened in what must be one of the best wins if not the best ever for the YM. After coming runner up in the Senior team of the Year the club had already had a fantastic night but when the envelope was opened for Club of the Year and the YM was announced it was made even better and with great shock the club President and Chairman went up to collect the award to a great round of applause. What made this award so special to the club and even better than Eastern Counties rugby club of the Year was that this award was won against all other sports in Suffolk not just rugby. Well done to all at the club who have worked so hard over the past few seasons to turn the club into what it has now become.
