YM HAPPY TO GO TO HARWICH AS UNDERDOGS IN SUFFOLK PLATE SEMI THIS WEEKEND
.
The YM will not mind that they are the underdogs for this weekends Suffolk Plate Semi Final against Harwich as they are just glad that after a very poor start to the season they are starting to see rewards from all their hard work. After 4 defeats in there first 7 league games the season looked like being a bad one for the YM 1st XV but after re grouping and the appointment of new coach Seaman the YM are now sitting 3rd in the league and have not lost in 2010.
With Harwich sitting at the top of the league and undefeated since 10th Oct 2009 it is no surprise that the YM will go to Harwich as big underdogs for this game. They will not mind this as at the moment they are just really enjoying there new style of play and after such a bad start to the season they could never have expected to even be in the semi final of this competition. It must also be remembered that they were massive underdogs in the quarter final against Woodbridge and look what happened there.
kick off for the match is 2.45pm at Harwich on Sat 13th March

1ST XV KEEP WINNING RUN GOING WITH 31 - 10 DEFEAT OF HADLEIGH
.
This weekend saw the YM 1st XV make the difficult trip over to Hadleigh. With Hadleigh only one place behind the YM in the league and with some very good results this season the YM knew they would have to put in a good performance to come away with the win. The first 15 minutes saw just why Hadleigh have been winning games as they attacked the YM again and again. It was only the fantastic YM defending that stopped Hadleigh getting the first try of the game. Hadleigh did get the first points of the game when after yet another attack they were awarded a penalty in front of the posts to take a 3 - 0 lead. The YM at last started to put some pressure on Hadleigh and some massive hits saw Hadleigh shocked onto the back foot. With the YM now on top it was only a matter of time before they got on the score board and on 30 minutes after some great forwards work Potter scored the first try of the game in the corner, a fantastic conversion from Elliston saw the YM go in front 7 - 3. The final 10 minutes of the half again saw the YM push forward and on the stroke of half time ever young Rafferty darted over with Elliston again adding the extras. The second half started with the YM again pushing forward and for the first 15 minutes of the half it was only great Hadleigh defence and the YM dropping the ball on the line that stopped the YM adding to their score. The YM did then score again when after some of the best play of the game saw Rafferty once again split the Hadleigh defence and go over for his second of the game, again Elliston added the extras. From the restart the YM again pushed forward and only 3 minutes later Podd went over in the corner for his 10th try of the season to make the score 26 - 3 to the YM. At this point the Hadleigh heads looked as if they might start to drop but from the restart they got the perfect result when a miss call from the YM saw the ball bounce over the YM line and the Hadleigh winger touch down for the try, a great conversion made the score 26 - 10. This was just the tonic Hadleigh needed and for the next 10 minutes they attacked the YM and again only great defence stopped them adding to their score. The last 5 minutes of the game again saw the YM hit back and after some great play from the YM backs Harper scored the last try of the game to give the YM a very good 31 - 10 win.
