After numerous pitch inspections we finally got this one away at 11.40am, with the ground eventually softening up.
The boy's results continue to speak for themselves and impress us all. The match was officially over at half time with the score at 43:0. We were 7 points up within the first 3 minutes following a solo effort by Adam, breaking the line and meeting little opposition. Further scores followed in quick succession from Stefan and Harvey before one of the best moves of the match which came from quick ruck ball from Elliot near the right touch and then for a string of passes to the ever impressive centre combination of Fintan and Charlie, who crossed the line to score.
There was a little bit of "show boating" by Stefan as he and Seb could not decide between them who was going to score, only for Seb to be tackled and I believe we then knocked on! The boys were clearly enjoying themselves and were running away with the score. Seb came off with a knee to the throat after yet another good performance in leading the team. Overall, our forwards were dominant, which was highlighted by a driving maul over 20m, before the ref blew up for not using the ball. Fantastic driving by our front 5 forwards who are a match for any pack. With such a mobile Back Row, we have the ability to turn defense into attack quickly.
At half time the Farnham coach agreed that we should play on as a "friendly". Stefan and Joe soon added further scores and within 5 minutes of the restart we changed a number of players, Daniel on at 7, Billy at 3, Andrew on at 11, Matt at 9, William at 14 and Tom at 6. By this time Farnham were quite down but not completely out when they scored a consolation try.
Overall another powerful display by our forwards and some good moves through our Backs with better distribution. We were guilty on occasions of not looking after the ball, turning and making possession easy for team mates. Also standing off at the ruck , which, if we had been playing a more able team, would have resulted in us loosing possession. However, based on this evidence, this squad could take on any team and win! They are full of confidence and determination to succeed.
It was, without doubt a convincing performance. Well done!
