About Us
Simon Jervis carries on as First XV Coach for the 2006/7 season. Malcolm Moaby also carries on in a role co-ordinating the Senior end of the Club.
Simon is a well-qualified coach and is currently employed at
Dartford Grammar School. He played for Westcombe Park for 8 years, 2 of which were as First XV Captain. Simon is also part of the Kent County coaching team.
Bob Hussey, a familiar face to most, has returned to the Club in a role of Assistant Coach. Bob spent his time away from GRFC coaching at Old Colfeians and also at Sheppey. This time has seen Bob develop into a fine coach who has been rewarded with coaching Kent U17 and U18 groups.
Simon Turvey has joined GRFC as Fitness Coach. Simon is part of the PE department over at Gravesend Grammar School for Boys, and previously spent several years involved with Blackheath RFC.
Martin Wilkinson continues as First XV skipper this year and Gary 'Trigger' Head is Second XV skipper.

Rugby at Gravesend
GRFC's senior rugby section currently has over 200 members, which enables us to put out 5 sides on a regular basis - 1st XV,A XV, Gannets, Swans & Moles. We cater for
EVERYONE
- all levels of ability, all shapes, all sizes, all ages.
Rugby is taken very seriously at the top end of the Club, and we are currently in a good position in London and South East 3. This league is highly competitive, and involves many players that have filtered down from the higher leagues and also many young players aspiring to play at a higher standard.
GRFC rightly prides itself on its social side of Rugby Union. The Gannets and Swans are firmly embedded in Kent rugby folklore with their own particular brand of hard-but-fair rugby and harder socialising! The Moles are relatively new to the Club and were set up by a group of parents from our Mini and Junior sections that started training together and eventually formed their own team. Legend has it that they are called the Moles because they used to train in the dark when the 1st XV were using the floodlights!
Player Incentives
If you are a senior player at the Club you can expect to be looked after as follows:
1 - Expert coaching by highly qualified coaches
2 - Food after training and games for carbohydrate re-loading
3 - Glucose drinks at training and games
4 - A package of playing, training and leisure clothing
5 - Negotiable expenses if you live out of the area
6 - A bursary scheme to support University students with their tuition fees
7 - Access to a fully qualified osteopath in the Club's own clinic
8 - A European tour at the end of the season
9 - Accommodation and employment is available to players with a known pedigree who are coming into the area
10 - A fitness facility that can be used by the players at any time
11 - Two qualified fitness instructors who will construct individual training plans for players
Club Developments
Much has been put in place this year to make GRFC more professional and forward-thinking. We are no longer just looking to stay in London 3, we are actively striving to gain promotion to London 2 and above. In previous years we have been content to have been the number 1 team in the borough but now we want to to be the number 1 side in the London leagues.
The management of the Club has also changed, w
ith Ephraim Cornelissen taking
over as Director of Rugby and Malcolm Moaby and Teresa Gray as Senior Co-ordinator and Junior Co-ordinator respectively. The focus of this team is to bring the whole club together in terms of co-ordination and organisation.
Peter Ramsay has recently taken over as Club Steward. Many will know Pete from both on and off the field - most definitely a 'poacher turned gamekeeper' scenario!
This website is now 100% up and running. The site will be maintained on a regular basis so that all Club members and other interested parties can get the latest GRFC news and see what we are all about. Any news items/results/social news that you would like to see on this site should be emailed using the link at the top of this page. Also, the GRFC forum is a little on the quiet side at the moment, click on

and come and have a look!
