RFU ROADSHOW - Please ensure you have been in touch with County Office about attending the RFU Roadshow on Thursday 12 May at North Bristol RFC. This is your chance to put questions to the Chief Executive Officer of the RFU, the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Community Game Board. These visits don't happen that often so the opportunity to question the RFU about grassroots rugby should not be missed by your club.

JUNIOR & MINI FESTIVALS & TOURNAMENTS - This is a polite reminder to organisers of Mini and Junior Festivals and Tournaments that you are required to provide GRFU with the full rules of your competition; these should also be sent out with the entry forms to all invited clubs. This document should not just refer to the Continuum, but should list all age related rules and regulations plus any specific to the competition on the one document, rather than referring to other rule books. This enables all coaches to have the necessary information with them on the day of your competition. Also you are are obliged to send County Office a full list of teams and their players within 14 days of the event being held. Thank you

TRAVEL INSURANCE FOR TOURS - An increasing number of clubs are asking the question about tour insurance and what is covered by the existing RFU Marsh policy. The only thing that is covered by the policy you have, as a result of paying your subs to affiliate to GRFU, is the playing of rugby [and only within the structured season in the case of age grade rugby]. There is no cover for travel or any non rugby activities. Tour organisers, whether for overseas or within the UK are advised to contact the Marsh RFU helpline on 0845 678 0070 to arrange additional cover. They will send you the relevant form to complete. RESULTS OF THE RECENT U17-U19 SURVEY - click here for results
We thank those clubs who were good enough to respond to the GRFU survey of U17s - U19s Rugby in the County. As a result, the Management Board has formed a small task group to examine possible competitive structures that aim:
Once the task group has formulated its ideas, the intention is to make presentations at the various Combination meetings to ascertain clubs' opinions on the various options. If acceptable to clubs, the intention is to introduce the competitive structure in 2011/12 season.

A lot of time is wasted by people using RugbyFirst to email just to find out that the person listed has not held that role for the last two seasons. TOURS - Further to the last notices I would remind you that permission is also needed for INCOMING tours and the permission from the visiting club's union is required for these. Please complete the Application for Incoming Tour and send it, with the written/emailed permission from the overseas union, to County Office at least one month before the start date.
MATCH CANCELLATIONS - Due to the bad weather there have been several matches cancelled at the last minute. In certain circumstances this has meant that clubs have already set off for their desitination, incurring considerable travel costs, just to be told on arrival that the match is off. Would all clubs please put in place a common sense approach to the timing of a cancellation, rather than leaving it to the last minute, in order that these wasted trips can be avoided.
FIRST AID COURSE - Please contact County Office if you have any members who require first aid training. There is a minimum number of delegates required to fill the next course we need 8 more volunteers. Details of the course are available on request by email or phone to County Office.

TOURS - Clubs are reminded that GRFU approval is required for any tour - overseas, Ireland or UK - for ALL age groups. RFU permission is required for overseas tours and, in particular, the approval of the host union is necessary before County Office can forward your request to the RFU for their approval. Please complete the Notification Form in full, with the exception of the host union details if not overseas, and email to County Office at least one month before the start date of the tour. Details of travel insurance must be included on the form.
