Replacements, Substitutes, and Front Rows

RFU Regulation 13.5
The following extracts will apply to most local matches.
Replacements
Leagues Level 3 and Level 4
: A maximum of NOT MORE than FIVE Replacements
ALL Leagues from Level 4 to Level 10
: A maximum of NOT MORE than THREE Replacements
Level 11 (Gloucestershire 3)
: A maximum of NOT MORE than SEVEN Replacements
Front Row Players
Down to and including Level 5
FIVE players capable of playing Front Row
ALL Leagues from Level 5 to Level 7
(Western Counties North) scenario
Team A and B must have at least FOUR players capable playing in the front
row (as per Reg 7.3.b (i) highlighted). Team A prop gets injured and is
replaced in the front row by the other player capable of playing in the
front row who later in the game then gets injured with no other players
capable of playing in the front row. The game would have to go to
uncontested scrums and Team A would have to reduce the team size down to 14
players on the pitch as per regulation 7.3 above.
All Gloucestershire Leagues (Level 8 and below)
Scenario
Team A and B must have at least FOUR players capable playing in the front
row (as per Reg 7.3.b (i) highlighted). Team A prop gets injured and is
replaced in the front row by the other player capable of playing in the
front row who later in the game then gets injured with no other players
capable of playing in the front row. The game would also go to uncontested
scrums BUT Team A would remain at 15 players on the pitch subject to there
being enough replacements left to use.
