Club Gladref
The Gladref scheme was launched for the start of the 1998-99 season and has worked relatively well since that time. However, with the passage of time and changes in personnel within clubs and the society, it is now a good time to put the emphasis back on the scheme and the benefits it can bring to the local game.
Description
The intention is that the Gladref builds a relationship within the club as the referee contact, and for the committee and club members to use that relationship and encourage the clubs to: -
* Raise issues about refereeing, referees and the society as they arise.
* Use the Society in coaching the common understanding of the laws and their interpretation.
* Concentrate resources on eradicating abuse of referees by those who play and watch.
* Encourage clubs in recruitment to refereeing.
* Get those members refereeing junior rugby or lower sides to take the National Foundation CertificatePart 1 (National 15 a Side Certificate).
* Encourage from within the club a responsible person to collect and send in the club reports on referees.
Benefits
Among the benefits expected from this scheme are: -
* The development of a common view as to how the game will be coached and refereed.
* A reduction in incidents of referee abuse.
* Support for the Society's recruitment activities.
