FORMBY VIKINGS RUFC
Formby Vikings RUFC was formed in April 2007 and at our first training session had three 6 year old children play rugby in Duke Street Park.
This is the second club ever to build its youth section before any senior sides
and we are a fully affiliated club with Lancashire and the RFU.
We now boast over 200 members and regularly run teams in Under 7, 8, 9, 10, and our Senior side is in its second season.
The Vikings have secured 15 acres of Land and a planning application has now been submitted for our own clubhouse and pitches next to Formby Football Club, which is where we are currently based. This means that we will soon be playing with new facilities and strongly invite you all to come and join now. We have also Launched Formby ATLAS and our own VIKINGS gym.
We hope the new site will also support our local Netball, Basketball teams and the club also aims to offer a Cycle track, Adventure course and childrens play area.
All our coaches are RFU Qualified and experienced players with new volunteers working towards a variety of coaching badges and are all subject to CRB clearance. We have already illustrated our commitment to provide coaching and games to the community and have applied for funding to employ a permanant Community Rugby Coach, Rugby Development Officer. This project will allow us to target all age groups, both boys and girls who wish to play rugby and enjoy a community rugby and sports club.
