Sporting Blues
Devonport Services
The Sporting Blues provide rugby for the men and women of the armed services of the U.K. In this area it is mainly to the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines.
We run two senior teams and an occasional veterans XV and play in the Western Counties (west) league.
Thanks to the forward thinking of the Navy and support from the RNRU, we are able to run probably the strongest and best youth set up in the county if not further afield as well. All ages from under 6 to under 16 and colts are catered for. Some age groups can field two teams.
The club badge is made up as follows; the Lion on top represents the British Army, the Royal Navy has the middle spot with the Royal Airforce at the bottom then the banner.

Thanks to CRS training and Charlie Stewart for sponsoring the club shorts, his logo can be seen on the backsides of our teams all over the place. Charlie also scored a couple of nice tries after unexpectedly finding himself on the wing.

An interesting little story
Our sister club in Portsmouth, United Services, wrote about their greatness in times past.
Knocker White, ex president, told me of the day that he was in charge of our second team, there was a fixture with Camborne school of mines to which he turned up with 5 internationals in the team.
That does not happen to every club.
See the history page for a list of representitive players found so far.
