Volunteers:
· Penrith struggling for qualified coaches for U16’s and upwards. Lack of expertise as opposed to numbers.
· Upper Eden flagged up they had the same problem. LN explained there were no immediate plans to replace Eden CRC in wake of Shelley Atkinson leaving but would speak to Garry Holmes & Graham Kidd for interim support. ACTION LN
· RFU restructure was mentioned. Probability of CRC workforce in Cumbria being further reduced, but LN is putting together justification document to argue case for at least maintaining current number of CRC’s.
· DS looking for funding within NW for CRC post for short term casual coaching to assist with key RFU objectives. ACTION DS
· Discussion of whether players in U17/18 teams are outgrowing their coaches in terms of knowledge. Some are playing seniors and therefore AG asked whether this was a bad thing. Lancashire are putting a course together to combat issues found in this area.
· Workington colts training with seniors but working within their own age range – heavily influenced by Dan Bowman. Great Model of Good Practice for Clubs to utilise. ACTION ALL
· 16 year olds from West Coast being lured to RL which they can play at 16, whereas RU is 17 (18 for front row). LN to ask RH where we are with possibly looking at a reduction of age band? Players playing at 17 need to fill in relevant player form and tick box on registration card this is available on CRU Website. ACTION LN
