Cumbria Level 1 RFU Rugby Coaching Course @ St Bees School
.
Cumbria Rugby Union recently held an RFU Level 1 Coaching Course at St Bees School on the West Coast of the County. The course was attended by 13 individuals of varying experience, however it was one of the best courses the County have ever held in terms of the quality of candidate attending the event.

All individuals had attended the Rugby Ready Course as a pre requisite to the Level 1 Award and much of the discussion on the course was heading towards Level 2 standard such was the level of knowledge and application amongst the candidates.

The Course was delivered by Liam Nicholls - RDO Cumbria, Richard Metcalf Active - Cumbria Coach Development Officer and Martin Grealish - Community Rugby Coach for Copeland. Feedback from the course was extremely positive and every candidate came through the award with flying colours.

Thankfully the weather for both sessions was reasonable but the ground conditions were tough which made the evasion and running sessions in particular a challenge, especially for the front row members of the course!!

All 13 candidates passed the award which means that there are more qualified personnel servicing the game in Cumbrian Clubs. If you are interested in attending a coaching award please Click Here to choose the appropriate course and Click Here to see the Cumbria & NW Coaching Programmes for 2011-12.
Much of the course was funded by a combination of Cumbria Rugby Union & Copeland Sports Development to allow candidates to access Coach Education at a local level. Thanks to both parties for their contribution to the programme.
Huge thanks must also go to Huw Lewis and the team from St Bees School for providing such an excellent facility which was conducive to the learning climate required for the course.
