Sporting Legends Dinner 2012
Carlisle Rugby Club will be holding the Sporting Legends Dinner 2012, which will take place on the evening of Saturday, 28th April 2012 at the Shepherd's Inn, Carlisle. The cost of a ticket will be £40 which will include a four course meal and coffee.

We welcome back Malcolm Lord as compere after his successful appearance last year. He is a well renowned Master of Ceremonies, after dinner speaker, author, journalist and broadcaster - " Brought up on a strict diet of rugby league but to be honest just plain sport mad" is how the former secretary and lifelong supporter of Rochdale Hornets describes himself. During a 15 year career as a BBC sporting commentator Malcolm was twice voted Commentator of the Year.
Malcolm will be introducing Steve Daley –after dinner speaker of the year 2009 and 2010.
Steve had a successful career as a pro footballer, starting at Wolves as a 15 year old and making his professional debut in 1971. During his 8 year spell with the West Midlands club, he made 212 appearances and scored 38 goals. Steve won a League Cup winners medal with Wolves in 1974 and played in their run through to the 1972 UEFA Cup Final, scoring a vital goal in the semi final against Ferencváros inside the first minute. He was an ever-present in the 1976–77 seasons, scoring 13 goals, and a further eight the following season saw him receive an England 'B' call up, playing six times during 1978 and scoring twice (against Singapore and Czechoslovakia 'B'). Steve transferred to Manchester City for a British Record Fee of £1.5Million in 1979, spending 2 seasons at Maine Road, with further spells at Seattle Sounders, Burnley and San Diego Sockers. Steve ended his Professional playing days at Walsall in 1986.
It is anticipated the event will be one of the highlights of the Cumbrian sporting calendar. Please book early as demand is likely to exceed supply.
Any profit from the event will go towards supporting the junior section (ages 5 to 17) of Carlisle RFC.
Clubs, firms and groups of friends may wish to book a full or part table seating 10. All ticket monies must be paid by the 31st March, 2012. The dress code will be smart evening wear.
