Kukri Sponsor NW Disability Rugby Programme
Press Release:
Kukri Sports are delighted to announce that we will be Sponsoring the North West Disability Tag Rugby Programme 2009. The programme aims to offer opportunities for boys and girls with learning difficulties to participate in Tag Rugby via structured coaching sessions which falls directly in line with the RFU's national strategy for disability sport.
The programme itself will be split across 5 partnership areas within the North West including, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, North Lancashire and Cumbria, where coaches will be on hand to deliver sessions to a variety of schools culminating in a finals day at Blackburn Rugby Club in May.
Jamie Williams, North West Sales Manager commented "We are thrilled to be able to support the programme alongside our other charity The Wooden Spoon. Having worked closely with the Special Olympics in Ireland, Kukri are more than aware of the positive affects that sport can have on those with learning difficulties. We hope that the sponsorship can provide the children with a great opportunity to participate in Rugby and more than anything enjoy themselves."
Stuart Urquhart RFU Development Officer for North Lancashire “We are delighted to be working alongside Kukri in delivering an expanded programme across the North West offering more opportunities for children with learning difficulties to experience Rugby. As well as the hugely popular North West festival this year’s programme will also see extended coaching provision in schools to support a series of local festivals. The continued support of the Wooden Spoon along with the sponsorship from Kukri is a real boost to the development of the game in the region”
