Cumbria Rugby Union Vets Festival 2012 at Carlisle
Dear Colleague
After a successful 1st week at Workington and weather affected 2nd weekend at Wigton, the next festival will now be held at Netherhall on 1st April 2012 1pm start. Both Clubs have been fantastic hosts so far and I am sure Netherhall will match them.
The competition is a part of a series supported by Cumbria Rugby Union is an initiative attempting to get players back into rugby to support our 2nd and 3rd teams in the county.
The rules for the festivals are:
Between 7 – 15 a – side (bring what numbers you can)
Players over 35 (2 players are allowed to be between 30 and 35)
Normal RFU Laws (scrums ect will be decided on the day)
Please feel free to pass this around your club, some ex-players may be interested in organising an team. Vets rugby is a great way of keeping aging players in the club and showing off the high skill levels from the past. We have found in the county that teams that have been proactive with the concept of the Vets format are starting to find some benefits around the club with people re-joining as players and volunteers.
If you would like a hand I am sure your local Community Rugby Coach would help out.
I look forward to hearing from you and if you would like more information feel free to contact me on the information at the top of the page.
.
Kind Regards
Garry Holmes
